Those plans got cancelled at the last minute (though not before my alarm rudely yanked me out of a deep sleep at about 10 minutes to ungodly in the AM).<\/p>\n<p>I could have gone anyway, but I sort of had it in my head to go check out the LA Zoo. I&#8217;d never been before. <\/p>\n<p>Now, some people may have thought twice before trekking up to Glendale on a blistering hot sunny day. Those people are much, much wiser than me. It was crazy hot, and I found myself slinking from shade pool to shade pool. Sadly, many of the animals seemed to be in the wiser than me category. They weren&#8217;t exactly out in force. Strangely, many seemed to prefer sleeping the day away in the cooler areas of their cages rather than frolicking for me in the heat of the day. There were a few though, and yes, <a href=\"http:\/\/raleighnet.org\/See\/2004\/LA_Zoo\/\">I took pictures<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had plans to go hiking early this morning.
