I must resist the urge to buyThis. I mean come on: A wimpy remake of an already anemic movie (the 1947 Rita Hayworth vehicle Down to Earth), this glitzy musical from 1980 improbably stars Olivia Newton-John as a heavenly muse sent here to help open a roller-derby disco. I don’t even want the thing. I…

So I’m driving all over town (assuming that all over is a radius of like 5 miles from my house, cause you know I just don’t drive too much anymore). Everywhere I go, I keep seeing These Posters for the movie Blue Crush. Now, far be it from me to prejudge, but I suspect that…

I’ve been hearing all kinds of good stuff about Amelie recently. I picked up the DVD today and just finished watching it. Wow! No, seriously WOW! It is without question one of the greatest movies I’ve ever seen. Truly spectacular. If you haven’t seen this yet, you are in for a real treat.

I can never remember what the special code is to get the super extended version of Terminator 2. So, just so I won’t have to spend 6 minutes searching for it next time, play title 3 on the DVD. Try to remember next time, and while you’re at it don’t forget to buy milk.

I can’t believe what a goof I am. I bought the Beautiful Mind DVD over the weekend. I go to put in and come to find out it’s the Full Screen (non letterboxed) version. Apparently they make a wide screen and full screen version, and I didn’t even notice/think to check for the full screen…

There’s nothing like geeking it up at the movies on a lazy Saturday afternoon. No, I didn’t see this one. I don’t plan to see that for at least a couple of weeks. I didn’t even see this one since I saw it a few weeks ago. Nope, I saw this quiet little gem. Actually,…

I picked up the Mulholland Drive DVD over the weekend. I’ve never been a huge fan of Lynch. I loved Lost Highway, but most of his other stuff doesn’t really do it for me. I mean I can appreciate ambiguity. I actually like ambiguity a lot, but so much of Lynch’s stuff just seems to…

I bought Donnie Darko on spec tonight. That is to say, I’d never seen it before, but I’d heard some really good things about it. What a great movie. A little bit like American Beauty crossed with Heathers on acid. I have to say, I don’t think I understand it all yet. It’s a very…

It got to be a drag keeping this list up to date by editing this blog entry. Plus, I could never remember the address, so I moved it to a more convenient flat file here: http://raleighnet.org/Consume/DVD/ Like all things on my site, that address is annoyingly case sensitive, but at least it’s easier to find…
